John Romero Is Happy To See The Full Version Of E2M6 In Quake's Remaster

Quake was re-released this week, boasting improved graphics and the return of the game’s original soundtrack. In an added bonus, the E2M6 map “Dismal Oubliette” has been restored to its original, extended length, a detail noted by original designer John Romero on Twitter.

Romero explained that the version of E2M6 that made it into the game was the one he originally designed, but that the extended entrance was added when Romero decided to “make the start of it better.” Sadly the improvements pushed the map over the 1.44MB size limit the team had placed on the maps, and E2M6 had to be stripped back to its original form.

John David Washington Will Star In Next Movie From Rogue One's Gareth Edwards

Tenet star John David Washington has signed on for True Love, the next movie from Godzilla and Rogue One director Gareth Edwards. The news comes via Deadline, which states the film is “an original sci-fi project.”

Edwards will write, co-produce, and direct True Love for Regency Pictures. Washington, who is also known for Blackkklansman, Malcolm & Marie, and the HBO sports comedy Ballers, will play the lead character. No plot details have been revealed about the movie so far, although Deadline describes it as “near future sci-fi story.”

After working in VFX for several years, Edwards made his breakthrough with 2010’s acclaimed independent sci-fi drama Monsters. This led to 2014’s Godzilla, the first movie in Legendary’s Monster-Verse. He next helmed the 2016 Star Wars spin-off Rogue One, although post-production issues led Disney to hire Tony Gilroy to oversee reshoots.

Washington will be seen next in the Netflix thriller Beckett, which also stars Alicia Vikande…

LG Reveals Monitor With Wild 16-18 Aspect Ratio

With the average computer monitor having a respectable 16:9 format, LG’s new, uniquely shaped 16:18 DualUp monitor is essentially two regular displays stacked on top of each other. The company announced the new monitor today, calling it “a completely new format in the monitor market,” as reported by The Verge.

The company says that the DualUp offers “the same screen real estate as two 21.5-inch displays and has a vertical split view function that lets users see more in one glance.” Most of the lifestyle images released for the new monitor show users making use of the split-view function, making the DualUp look very much like a vertical two-screen set-up.

The DualUp measures 27.6 inches on the diagonal, offering the same screen space as two conventional 21.5 inch displays. The display has a resolution of 2560×2880, topping out at 300 nits of brightness and covering 98% of the DCI-P3 color gamut. Lord Of The Rings Fan Wants To Make A Hobbiton In Wisconsin Where You Can Sleep, Eat, And Tend Gardens

A Lord of the Rings-themed bed & breakfast/park modeled after Hobbiton could be coming to Wisconsin, and while the concept sounds intriguing, it’s still very early days.

A new experience called Hobbiton Stay Wisconsin has been announced, with organizer Rebecca Alm–a self-described “fan with a plan”–outlining a vision for what the place could be.

Hobbiton Stay Wisconsin is aiming to offer guests the opportunity to visit Hobbiton without traveling to New Zealand. It’s described as a “fully functional Hobbiton” featuring underground dwellings, gardens, a lake, paths through the woods, and a recreation of the Green Dragon Inn to grab a pint.

Hobbiton Stay Wisconsin aims to offer guests the ability to stay for a weekend in their own hobbit hole. The venue might also host weddings and events and let visitors tend gardens and orchards just like a hobbit. The site could have resident animals and a pond stocked with fish.

Bill the pony would be Hobbiton Stay Wis…
